Co-Mo Comm Inc. partners with Big River Telephone in fiber project
[12-07-2011] Co-Mo Comm Inc. has selected Big River Telephone as its wholesale provider for telephone service that will be provided over Co-Mo Electric’s new fiber-to-the-home broadband network.
The cooperative is constructing a high-speed fiber-optics to improve its electrical distribution system. It will offer excess capacity through Co-Mo Comm to its members in two pilot project areas for the Co-Mo Connect broadband and telephone service. The telephone portion will include unlimited local and long-distance calling for just $25 a month.
“Big River Telephone is a respected and reputable company with more than a quarter-century of roots in Missouri,” Co-Mo Electric General Manager Ken Johnson said of the Cape Girardeau-based company. “They have a proven track record of success with voice service like what we’re doing here.”
Kevin Cantwell, president of Big River Telephone, said, “We are excited to work with Co-Mo on its broadband project. The delivery of digital telephone service along with high-speed Internet will allow the cooperative’s members access to technology that has previously been unavailable to them.”
Construction of the fiber network is currently on target for completion by the end of 2011. For more information on the network, see co-mo.net.
