Cape Girardeau January 18, 2005— Big River Telephone presents Major Michael Thomas of the Cape Girardeau Salvation Army a check for $470 to match the funds raised during the holidays in effort to provide area families with a turkey dinner.

Big River Telephone Company launched a holiday promotion in conjunction with Schnucks, The Salvation Army, Soft Rock 104.7, and B98. The theme of this year’s promotion was “For It Is in Giving That We Receive.”

Customers of Big River Telephone received vouchers to the Schnucks store in Cape Girardeau, along with instructions on how to participate in the promotion. These same vouchers were available to shoppers at our area Schnucks location.

By simply bringing the voucher to the Schnucks store, along with a $10 donation, an area family registered with the Salvation Army received a turkey dinner during the holiday season. The promotion, which ran through December 31, 2004, raised enough money to donate 47 turkeys to needy families across the region.

In addition to the campaign, Big River Telephone matched the donations directly related to this campaign giving the Salvation Army an additional $470.

“We are extremely appreciative to Schnucks, Soft Rock 104.7, B98, and the generous citizens of our region for helping us provide this service for the Salvation Army and are happy to further assist in the effort of the Salvation Army,” stated Kevin Cantwell, President, Big River Telephone.
