ATTENTION MISSOURI CUSTOMERS:
 
Effective May 1, 2007, the Missouri Public Service Commission has increased the Missouri Universal Service Fund Assessment Rate from .18% to .29% on all In-state telecommunications services.  Big River Telephone is now applying this new rate to all Missouri invoices.
 
New Domain Names Could be in the Future...
 
New Internet domain names could be added to the Internet system by Summer 2008.  The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has been working to approve new names to add to the Internet system to help create more diversity among more groups of Internet users. 
 
There are about 250 domain suffixes and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is looking to approve more names as they are reviewed.  Most of the domain suffixes are specific to countries such as ".au" for Australia.  There are many general use domain names such as ".com", ".biz" and ".net" and ICANN is working to supplement more names while hammering out the technical aspects.
 
The number of groups that would be able to seek new domain names is unknown but the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers hopes to add new domain names in a timely and efficient manner.
