Holiday Turkey Drive-A Huge Success for The Salvation Army
    Salvation Army

Cape Girardeau, Missouri (January 3, 2007) – Once again, Big River Telephone in conjunction with Schnucks, The Salvation Army, Mix 96.5, B 97.9 and Soft Rock 104.7, have teamed together for another successful Holiday Turkey Drive. These organizations along with the donations from the community were able to bring holiday joy to almost 2,000 families in the community.

The Holiday Turkey Drive is designed to help families in need during the holidays. The Turkey Drive began November 1, 2006 and ended December 20, 2006. With the combined efforts of Big River Telephone, Schnucks, Mix 96.5, B 97.9, Soft Rock 104.7, and the community, enough donations were collected to purchase turkeys so that The Salvation Army could provide meals for families during the holiday season.

The Holiday Turkey Drive donations helped purchase turkeys for meals and baskets that were given to those who were less fortunate during the holidays. Major Stillwell, of The Salvation Army, is happy to report that they served 993 meals over the Thanksgiving holiday and were able to provide 933 families with food baskets for Christmas. The combined efforts of all those who donated to the Holiday Turkey Drive helped brighten the holiday for others in the community.

Big River Telephone wants to thank all of those who were able to donate to this cause. You helped make a difference this holiday season!
